I am 46 years old and have Early Onset (EO) Alzheimer's.
Many of us with EO Alzheimer's and Alzheimer's have different symptoms and are effected differently.
EO Alzehimer's are what they call those with Alzheimer's that are under 60 years old. Many of us with EO Alzheimer's had/have careers and families. This completely throws our world, as we know it, into a tail spin.
My neurological problems became evident in January of 2004.
Over three years later and after many doctors and many tests (that continued to come back normal) I insisted on a SPECT scan. This was the first proof that there was indeed something wrong with my brain. Almost a year later I had a PET scan which confirmed the dementia, most likely EO Alzheimer's and Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD). Of course this cannot be proven without an autopsy and I'm not quite ready for that test yet.
After all this began I started to draw. I found that drawing was/is a form of meditation and calms my brain.
Let me also say that I am so grateful for all the love, help and support of family and friends for making these pages possible.
